Estimator - Interior/Exterior Specialty Construction

Overview:  

Join our Irvine-based team supporting our portfolio of specialty construction subcontracting businesses across the West Coast. We are seeking an experienced estimator with a background in interior and exterior specialty construction, including drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, plaster, wall systems, acoustics, and related trades. In this role, you'll collaborate with operations leaders, project teams, suppliers, and customers to develop accurate estimates helping secure profitable commercial construction projects.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare accurate and complete estimates for commercial construction projects.

  • Review plans, specifications, addenda, schedules, and contract documents to determine project scope and requirements. 

  • Perform quantity takeoffs using BuzzBid. 

  • Solicit, evaluate, and compare vendor and subcontractor quotations.  

  • Collaborate with operations, project management, and field leadership to validate project assumptions, labor strategies, and constructability considerations. 

  • Develop pricing strategies that align with market conditions and company objectives. 

  • Prepare proposals, bid packages, qualifications, clarifications, and other preconstruction documentation. 

  • Review contract language and identify potential  risks. 

  • Assist with change order pricing, budgeting, and project cost analysis. 

  • Oversee follow-ups and conduct all customer and prospective business correspondence with professionalism. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, vendors, and industry partners. 

  • Monitor market trends, material pricing, labor conditions, and competitive activity. 

  • Support multiple projects and partner with team members throughout the company.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and estimating best practices. 

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • At least 2 years of estimating experience in commercial specialty construction.  

  • Experience with an interior and/or exterior specialty contractor or commercial subcontractor specializing in drywall, metal framing, ceilings, plaster, EIFS, wall systems, acoustics, or related scopes.  

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and estimating software such as BuzzBid, QuickBid, OST, or comparable platforms. 

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project schedules. 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. 

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. 

  • Proven experience with, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, hospitality, mission-critical, or advanced technology projects. 

  • Experience with ERP such as Penta or similarly situated platforms, i.e. Plexxis, Viewpoint, Sage. 

  • Experience utilizing unit-cost databases and production-based estimating methods. 

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.

California Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this job is $95,000 to $145,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. This position may be eligible to participate in other benefits and programs that contribute to the total rewards package.
